DIY Gel Manicure - Product Review

Ok, anyone who knows me knows I am extremely anal about my nails.  This must come as no shock to anyone who knows me since I used to be a nail tech in a former life.

Well I had to take my nails off before my surgery and didn't feel like getting acrylics put back on so I thought I would hit up Sallys Beauty Supply and buy my own gel set . 

I'm actually pleasently surprised.  I picked the darkest color I could find by Gelish called Night Reflection.  This is the closest I could find to my OPI fave Lincoln Park After Dark.

So I got the base coat, color, top coat and small UV lamp.  Basically all I did was put on the base coat and cure it under the lamp for 2 minutes, then each coat of color, which I think I cured too long but hey I'm a first timer.  Then the top coat, even after curing for 10 min it felt sticky.  So I googled what to do and it said to put acetone on a paper towel and swipe it over the nail to get the stickiness off.  And just like that, they were dry and non sticky.

So here is the pic of them freshly done.  We'll see how long they last.......I figure if I use this 3 times, I've made my money back from what I would spend at the salon., so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this stays on at least 10 days even though it promises 14.
